2010_06_03 Elliptical halo

As usual, the elliptical halo display struck seemingly out of nowhere and lasted for a few minutes only. In fact, the best phase of the display lasted mere seconds. Had I not gotten a phone call from Marko Riikonen I would have missed the display.
However, I was lucky as I was literally holding the camera in my hands as he called so I was out the door in seconds.
The ellipse was formed, as usual, in Ac Virga. Even the tiniest fragments of Altocumulus were precipitating Virga so the air mass around them must have been supersaturated.
